Parigi è stata testimone di una delle notti più intense della Storia del black/death metal moderno, poiché tre delle forze titaniche del genere – i Behemoth, i Satyricon, e i Rotting Christ – hanno dato vita a uno show che si è impresso a fuoco nella memoria dei presenti.
Rotting Christ – dal Licabetto di Atene a Parigi
Sin dai primi riff di ‘666’ è apparso chiaro come i Rotting Christ non siano giunti solo come band di apertura, ma per reclamare a gran voce la propria presenza. Sakis Tolis, con la sua caratteristica presenza guerresca, ha guidato il pubblico attraverso un’implacabile processione di inni che hanno fuso assieme spiritualità, misticismo ellenico e i rituali del black metal.
‘P’unchaw kachun – Tuta kachun’ and ‘Elthe Kyrie’ ci hanno trasportato dalle Ande alla teologia bizantina con la loro atmosfera al limite del paganesimo. Poi, quando ‘Non Serviam’ ha echeggiato nel locale, il pubblico è esploso dinanzi a un inno alla resistenza e alla volontà individuale che travalica i confini. L’apice è stato raggiunto con ‘Grandis Spiritus Diavolos’, tra pugni in aria e voci urlanti che hanno trasformato L’Olympia in un vero e proprio tempio.
Satyricon – La nobiltà ghiacciata del Nord
I norvegesi hanno preso possesso del palco con la loro caratteristica grandeur fredda. Satyr – sciolto e a suo agio nei panni del monarca pagano – e Frost – preciso come sempre – hanno offerto un set che ha attraversato la loro discografia con grazia e perizia.
‘Now, Diabolical’ e ‘K.I.N.G.’ sono potenti dichiarazioni di intenti, controbilanciate da momenti più oscuri come ‘Walk the Path of Sorrow’ e la terrificante ‘Mother North’, dal peso quasi metafisico. Il sound è quello primordiale a cui siamo abituati e a cui si è affidato completamente il pubblico, sommerso nell’atmosfera oscura creata dai Satyricon.
Behemoth – Il rituale definitivo del Caos
All’arrivo dei polacchi Behemoth l’atmosfera si è incendiata, sia in senso figurato che letteralmente. Con un settaggio di palco apocalittico e le luci teatrali che li contraddistinguono, Nergal e le sue legioni ci hanno regalato una performance degna della loro fama di sommi sacerdoti dell’oscurità.
Dall’attacco di ‘Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer’ al finale esplosivo di ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!’ il pubblico ha assistito a qualcosa che trascende il semplice concerto e sconfina nell’arte provocativa e nell’assalto sonoro combinato. Una vera e propria liturgia blasfema si è svolta dinanzi ai nostri occhi con lo scorrere di tracce come ‘Conquer All’, ‘Chant for Eschaton 2000’ e la monolitica ‘Bartzabel’. L’esecuzione impeccabile e gli effetti che combinano l’occultismo con il piglio cinematografico ci hanno offerto un’esperienza che sorpassa persino la loro proverbiale perfezione in studio.
In definitiva, non è stato un concerto come tutti gli altri, è stata un’esperienza trasfigurativa. I Rotting Christ hanno convogliato intensità e spiritualità, i Satyricon hanno incarnato il blasone gelido che li contraddistingue, mentre i Behemoth hanno innalzato al massimo livello la teatralità dell’oscurità. Una serata che conferma come il metal estremo sia più di un semplice genere musicale – sia un vero e proprio modo di essere.

Paris witnessed one of the most intense nights in the realm of modern black/death metal, as three of the genre’s titanic forces – Behemoth, Satyricon, and our very own Rotting Christ – unleashed a show that burned itself into the memory of everyone present.
Rotting Christ – From Lycabettus to Paris
From the very first riffs of “666”, it became clear that Rotting Christ didn’t just come to open the night – they came to claim it. Sakis Tolis, with his signature warrior presence, led the crowd through a relentless procession of hymns that fused spirituality, Hellenic mysticism, and ritualistic black metal.
“P’unchaw kachun – Tuta kachun” and “Elthe Kyrie” transported us from the Andes to Byzantine theology, emanating an almost pagan atmosphere. When “Non Serviam” echoed through the venue, the crowd erupted – an anthem of defiance and individual will that has transcended borders. The climax came with “Grandis Spiritus Diavolos,” fists raised and voices howling, transforming L’Olympia into a temple.
Satyricon – The Frozen Nobility of the North
The Norwegians took the stage with their trademark cold grandeur. Satyr – flawless, exuding the aura of a pagan monarch – and Frost, precise as ever, delivered a set that traversed their legacy with calculated grace.
“Now, Diabolical” and “K.I.N.G.” stood as power statements, while darker moments like “Walk the Path of Sorrow” and the haunting “Mother North” carried a near-metaphysical weight. The sound was pristine, and the audience found itself submerged in Satyricon’s distinct blackened atmosphere.
Behemoth – The Ultimate Ritual of Chaos
When Poland’s Behemoth emerged, the atmosphere ignited – both figuratively and literally. With apocalyptic stage design and theatrical lighting that accentuated every moment, Nergal and his legion delivered a performance worthy of high priests of darkness.
From the opening blow of “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer” to the explosive finale of “O Father O Satan O Sun!”, the crowd experienced something that transcended a concert – this was art, provocation, and sensory assault all in one. Tracks like “Conquer All”, “Chant for Eschaton 2000”, and the monolithic “Bartzabel” composed a blasphemous liturgy unfolding before our eyes. Flawless sound, occultist visuals with cinematic flair, and renditions surpassing studio perfection.
This was no ordinary gig – it was a transformative experience. Rotting Christ delivered intensity and spirit, Satyricon embodied icy nobility, and Behemoth brought the full-scale theatricality of darkness. A night that proves extreme metal is far more than just sound – it is a way of being.
